BMW's first electric scooter launched in India, stunning looks, impeccable features

Germany's premium motorbike maker BMW has stepped up as the New Year rings in. They want to move forward with a bird's eye view of the Indian market. 

On the one hand, as the new S 1000 RR superbike is being launched in this country, this time they are going to launch their first battery powered scooter CE 04. Before that BMW removed the curtain from the electric scooter. This electric scooter with 8.9 kWh lithium ion battery can run for 130 km on a single charge.

Boasting a futuristic design, the CE 04 scooter features a compact apron at the front, long side panels and a tail section behind the bench-like seat. Also storage space is available on both sides and front of this scooter. There is a ventilated compartment with Type C charging port for mobile charging.

Powering the BMW CE 04 electric scooter is a 15 kW electric motor with a maximum output of 42 horsepower. It has a permanent magnet motor located between the battery and the rear wheel. It has the ability to accelerate from 0-50km/h in just 2.6 seconds as per the manufacturer's claim. The maximum speed of the scooter is 120 km per hour.

Located under the model's floorboards is an 8.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. BMW claims the battery can travel up to 130 km on a full charge. It takes 4 hours and 20 minutes to fully charge this battery with a 2.3 KW charger. However, it can be fully charged in just 1 hour and 40 minutes with the help of a 6.9 kW first charger.

The CE 04 scooter made by BMW has three riding modes Eco, Road and Rain. Moreover, a TFT display with a resolution of 10.25 inches is fitted here to view the charge and other information of the scooter. It is possible to connect the smartphone through Bluetooth. Also, other riding functions including GPS navigation can be seen on this screen.

Suspension of the CE 04 features 35 mm telescopic forks at the front and preload adjustable monoshock absorbers at the rear with single sided swingarm. Also, 120 section tires on the front wheel and 160 section tires on the rear wheel are used here with 15 inch wheels on both the front and rear sides for high speed movement. Braking duties are handled by 265 mm twin discs at the front while single disc at the rear. But ABS is here as a safety feature.
